Sunday, May 19th, 2013 is the annual Run for the Red – the Pocono Marathon that raises money for our local Red Cross of the Poconos.
Each year I mention about the traffic situation(the route can catch you off guard if you’re heading to church that Sunday morning), but this year is a bit different as the route has changed its course. The bridge right prior to the Route 191 is under repair until October, so the race is being rerouted which may catch a lot of people off guard that are not usually affected by road closures/reroutes.
You can view information and the map of this year’s race here: http://www.poconomarathon.org/marathon.html
Good luck to all the runners, thanks to all of those that volunteer, and if you’re free that day I know the runners always appreciate the support of onlookers cheering them on.
It looks like they’re still taking registrations as well, so if you’re looking for a Boston Qualifying race, the Pocono Marathon is a beautiful race.
