We recently took our children to the new outdoor mini-golf course at Kalahari – the Legends of the Lost Jungle Mini-Golf and we all had a blast! The “Kalahari Complex”, as I like to call it, consists of a few different areas – the main building which houses the waterpark and hotel rooms, and an adjoining portion for the convention center. There always seems to be some sort of construction going on as Kalahari is always expanding! There was a large waterpark expansion which has made it the largest waterpark in America, and currently an expansion is being done next to the convention center to expand that section as well.
FINDING THE MINI-GOLF COURSE AT GORILLA GROVE
For mini-golf, prior to getting to the “Kalahari Complex”, on the left you’ll find Gorilla Grove Treetop Adventures. This is where you will find the Ropes Course and Zip Lines, and that’s where you can now find the Legends of the Lost Jungle Mini-Golf course. Mini-golf is a classic way to spend time with friends & family, and although some skill is involved, let’s be honest, having fun is the primary goal!
TWO COURSES TO CHOOSE FROM – TRY ONE OR BOTH!
The Legends of the Lost Jungle Mini-Golf course at Kalahari consists of 2 different courses, so you can do just 18 holes on one course, or do both and try 36 holes! It’s only a few dollars more to do both courses, so it’s worthwhile to try both if you have the time. Resort guests get a discount off mini-golf, but you DO NOT need to be a resort guest in order to do Legends of the Lost Jungle Mini-Golf.
TEAL COURSE
The Teal Course is easier than the Yellow Course but it was still definitely challenging. Both courses are 18 holes each, and even with skipping some holes it took us almost 2 hours to do both!
– 18 Holes
– Flatter Course
– Easier for beginners
YELLOW COURSE
The Yellow Course is less flat, so it’s more challenging, and it is also has more shade, which makes day mini golf a lot easier on warmer days. Our kids especially loved Hole 12 where you have to hit your ball into the water as part of the course.
– 18 Holes
– More Challenging
– Shady Areas on course
The Legends of the Lost Jungle Mini-Golf also has lighting so that you can still mini-golf even on days when the sun sets early. Although it was windy the day we were there (as it often is at the higher elevations), it was still warm, so our kids enjoyed the areas of the course where water would mist onto them.
FUN FOR ALL AGES – KALAHARI THEMED
Our eldest child was sick, but our 3 younger children that went (6 years, 8 years and 10 years), all really enjoyed the variety that the courses had, and that the mini-golf was “Kalahari Themed”. From the music, to the Kalahari themed scenery (both natural and manmade), the course has the Kalahari look, feel & experience – all while enjoying the outdoors. The mini-golf is placed next to the treetop/zipline adventures, so you feel that consistent Kalahari theme, and also get an eagle-eyed view into another fun outdoor activity that Kalahari has to offer.
If you are interested in Kalahari Waterpark Discounts – they currently have 10% discounts available for local residents from Monroe, Lehigh or Luzerne County. You can apply here.
If you are looking for other fun to-do ideas at Kalahari (in addition the obvious choice, the waterpark!), try the 4D theater or arcade. The 4D theater is amazing, and you can spend hours at the arcade playing hundreds of different games from classics to popular themes of today.
