The Department of Counseling and Psychological Services at East Stroudsburg University is hosting a special screening of the newly released documentary, “Out of Sight: Stop the Stigma, Start a Conversation” (Mahaney, Bender, Minor, 2016) followed by a Q & A with the Producer and Director, Kyle Mahaney. This is scheduled for today, March 22, at 7 p.m. in the Warren E. ’55 and Sandra Hoeffner Science and Technology Center, Niedbala Auditorium – Room 117. This is a free event that’s open to the public.
Through a series of gripping interviews with adult survivors, adolescents, educators, parents, and mental health professionals, “Out of Sight” probes why depression and self harm are so frequently swept under the rug. It explores the ongoing conflicts sewn within families that often accompany mental health disorders; and the dangerous but very common consequences of denial.
