Community Wide Cleanup Day Planned near Anniversary of Benjamin Moore’s Beautification Project
HAWLEY, PA: Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 2nd and have your yard gloves handy as the Downtown Hawley Partnership embarks on a community cleanup day. In conjunction with the Hawley Free Methodist Church and Hawley United Methodist Church, among others, DHP is looking for volunteers for the day-long event.
Nearly on the eve of Hawley’s big beautification project Main Street Matters, sponsored by Benjamin Moore, DHP wants to keep the momentum going and keep Main Street clean and beautiful.
Along with the Benjamin Moore project, which saw the first level of all main street facades get a facelift and a fresh coat of paint. DHP and the borough also received funds to finish the job for the rest of the building and grant funding to improve the entire street scape by installing a fleet of brand new weather proof benches, trash cans and flower beds from end to end.
Hawley also welcomed the installation of the grand Caleb Joseph Regenski Memorial Playground, which can accommodate over 150 children and is a beautiful addition to the town’s focal point in Bingham Park.
Last year’s community cleanup brought a fresh look to the Riverside Trail, new dugouts for the downtown baseball diamond and some general trash removal around town. This year the group has loftier goals. “We need to do all we can to keep our town looking beautiful and we need all the help we can get,” stated Simon Knox, DHP Administrator. “We cannot squander the beautiful gifts and assets we received last year, we all need to pitch in. Not just for the borough, nor the tourists but for the whole community.”
DHP will look to tidy up main street as well as portions of the park, from street clean ups and litter removal to touchup painting and possibly even flower planting.
