For decades, among the most beloved Hawley, PA annual events have included the Hawley
Harvest Hoedown and Hawley Winterfest. After careful consideration, and in light of recent and
continuing mitigation efforts announced by Pennsylvania Governor Wolf, the Downtown
Hawley Partnership board of directors has announced that neither will take place in 2020.
Elaine Herzog, president of the DHP said, “It is with very heavy hearts that we have come to this
decision. It was not made lightly, but the current indicators for the ongoing threat of COVID-19
into the fall and winter months really gave us no choice.”
Originally this year’s Hoedown was scheduled for October 3 and 4, and Winterfest was
scheduled for December 11 through 13. The new dates for 2021 will be announced at a later
time, and both events will come back with the spirit and traditions for which they are best
known.
“The health and safety of our residents, our visitors, our participants, and our businesses is our
first priority. Our businesses are open in keeping with Commonwealth guidelines and we
welcome customers to visit at any time. Supporting our small businesses remains the top priority
of the Downtown Hawley Partnership. We are optimistic that other, smaller events and
happenings will take place in the coming months.”
