Each Spring as the weather gets warmer we’re always on the lookout for new places to take the kids outdoors, so in our hunt for a great park, someone suggested we try Mountain View Park in Tannersville, PA.
It’s a great place to take the kids if you live in the area, and it’s also just a short distance from Great Wolf Lodge and The Crossings, so it’s also great if you’re visiting the area and just looking for somewhere to let the kiddos stretch their legs and run wild for a bit.
We visited Mountain View Park in early April, which is when the photos below were taken, so it looks a little bit dull, but hopefully you can at least get the idea of all the great facilities they have to offer and how large the park is.
One of the nicest things about Mountain View Park is that it is SHADED in a lot of areas – which is hard to find at kids parks in the Poconos. On a hot day (and having 2 redheads that burn quickly), I really want to be enjoying time with my kids, not worrying that they don’t have enough sunscreen on. So Mountain View Park is great because it provides shade, but also has plenty of facilities for kids of all ages and even Teens and Adults.
There are a few different playgrounds/playsets for kids of all ages – from a small plastic tree for toddlers, to tire swings, to your standard swings and slides.
Some additional features are:
- 3 – Ball Fields
- 1 – Soccer Field
- 2 – Tennis Courts
- 2- Basketball Courts
- 4 – Pavilions ( including grills)
- Restrooms
- Nature Trails
Take a look at some of the pictures of Mountain View Park below, as well as directions on how to get there:
Having visited The Crossings Premium Outlets many times, I had seen the park that is at the intersection near The Crossings, but this is not that same park, so be sure to take note as to where this at.
Let me prefix this that I’m HORRIBLE with directions, so please refer to the map below….but if you’re at The Crossings and head up towards Camelback to the intersection where Barley Creek Brewing Company is instead of heading left at the Y towards Camelback, you head right and it’s just a couple hundred yards on the right, if you’ve passed completely past Barley Creek’s outdoor area you’ve gone too far.
DIRECTIONS: From Rt. 80, Take Exit 299 (Tannersville) Make a right off the exit ramp onto 715 North. Take your first left (at the light, just before the Crossings Factory Outlets) onto Sullivan Trail. Follow Sullivan Trail approximately 1 mile. The Park is on the right across from Barley Creek Brewing Company.
FROM ROUTE 611 North. Take Left at 715 S. First right onto Sullivan Trail. Follow Sullivan Trail approximately 1 mile.
You can visit the Pocono Township Website for more information.
