I did not get the chance to post Day 11 yesterday due to a nice migraine I had last night, so today we’re doing a 2 for 1, listing both Day 11 and Day 12. My apologies!
Day 11 & Day 12 – Paint Pottery at Poke-A-Nose Pottery
What grandparent wouldn’t love to get a hand-painted item from their grandchild for Christmas? If you’re a parent that loves the thought, but you don’t have the materials already or don’t want to worry about the clean up – take your kids over to Poke-A-Nose pottery. They are located on Route 611 in Bartonsville, just minutes away from the Giant, Red Lobster and Lowes shopping centers.
You’ll pay a studio fee per painter and then pay for each piece of pottery you’ll be painting. The studio fee is not limited to a certain amount of time so whether you spend 30 minutes or 3 hours the same price applies. It’s not only a good idea to make items for your loved ones, but it also gives you some great bonding time with your children as well.
We took our youngest son last year when he was 3 years old. He is a typical boy who loves to run, jump and in general cause a ruckus – but if you give him an art project, even if it’s only for a few minutes, he will settle down and be amazingly quiet and involved. Even though his painting skills were nothing but putting random colors in random spots, the pride you could see on his face when he was done his “creation” was priceless.
Whether your kids are young or older, or whether you’re looking for gifts to make yourself, Poke-A-Nose pottery is a great place to go to make original pieces of art to give as gifts.
