We’ve been away on a little hiatus the last month as we welcomed our fourth child in late September and we’ve been quite busy to say the least. With everything going on we didn’t have the time this year to get out and do any pumpkin picking which we love to do and have posted about in the past: 2010 Pumpkin Picking Locations in Poconos & 2009 Pumpkin Picking Poconos We started looking for pumpkins in mid-September prior to baby arriving, but they weren’t really ‘in stock’ persay, we had stopped by Mazezilla / Klingels to look for pumpkins and they were in the process of setting up for the fall season so we just picked up a few mums. I must say, out of all of the places I saw for mums this year, they really were the brightest and fullest I could find for a comparable price and I’d definitely purchase them there again.
We made a quick trip down to The Farmers Basket in Stroudsburg to pickup pumpkins, with 4 little ones we decided that I’d stay in the car with the kiddos as my husband headed in and took them one by one to pick out pumpkins. It wasn’t our traditional pumpkin picking by any means – but they had a great selection and everyone got the size and shape that they wanted. They were decently priced and they helped to carry the pumpkins to our car which helped and they’ve always done the same in the past when we’ve purchased Christmas trees there as well.
On a third outing this past weekend we stopped by the Pocono Farmstand and Nursery on Route 611 in Tannersville, PA to grab some fresh pies. We opted for a pumpkin pie and a lemon pie, and both pies were as fresh and authentic as if mom made them herself. They really are a one stop shop – so although we ran around from point a to b simply due to time constraints (we got what we could, when we could) but we could have got everything we needed there.
If you’re still on the lookout for fall items – a few things they carry are Corn stalks $6.99, Mums 3 for $15, they have pies, pumpkins, local apples, fresh pressed cider, a free kids hay maze and a free petting farm with goats. They’re right off of 611 so it’s not a farm or a large outdoor area (if that’s what you’re looking for you’d want to look at Mazezilla / Klingels ), but if you’re looking for somewhere to get all of those things for fall and don’t want to make it an all day trip I’d definitely suggest you stop by the Pocono Farmstand and Nursery.
Where is your favorite place to go to get everything for fall in the Poconos? We’d love to hear your suggestions and experience them ourselves so we can share them with others as well! The photos above are from Pocono Farmstand and Nursery.
